We Love Lindos

We Love Lindos was founded in 2016 by a small group of locals who have one thing in common…our love for Lindos and our dream to see Lindos protected and cared for the right way.  As Greece continues to go through a period of crisis our small group of volunteers do anything we can to keep Lindos clean and bright!! We welcome everyone to join us and help make our group grow stronger!

Lindos

Situated 50km south of Rhodes town, our unique little village, classified as an archeological site, is surrounded by beautiful beaches and topped with a spectacular Acropolis.  Lindos is made up of cascading white-washed houses along with carved stone captain’s houses as well as many historical churches, monasteries and an ancient theater.

Lindos was founded by the Dorians in the 10th century BC and was a major trading center.  In the 6th century, Lindos was ruled by Cleoboulos, one of the seven sages of Greece.  In 300 BC Lindos was dominated by the temple of Athina Lindia and in the 14th century a massive fortress was built around it by the Knights of St John to defend the island against the Ottomans.  Today the Acropolis offers spectacular views of the surrounding harbors and beaches.

Lindos is an energetic village visited by thousands every day.  Visitors come to lie on our beautiful beaches, explore the streets of our historical village or take a donkey ride up to our Acropolis.  There are rows of shops selling handcrafted Greek treasures, restaurants and cafes featuring the best flavors of Greece and bars and clubs with non-stop entertainment.

But the most magical part of our village is the people who have come together from all parts of the world to call Lindos their home.  Visitors can feel this energy the moment they step their foot into the village.  Friendly, talkative, colorful, energetic Lindians make everyone who visits feel like they are home and we feel honored to have one of the highest rates of repeat tourism in all of Greece… something magical.
